My life has been blessed beyond words with the arrival of my nephew Nicholas a few years ago. I was excited about making him his first birthday cake since shortly after conception…and his mom and dad graciously let me do it for him. Of course, 1st birthdays are mostly about the parents, but I like to think that a 1st birthday cake lays the groundwork for many special birthdays ahead!
